My apron...

As I don't have the time or patience to make my own apron for the Apron Gala, I will most likely be purchasing one! Here are a few cute options I found at Anthropologie.

What: Columbus’ favorite foodie party the 12th Annual North Market Apron Gala! The tremendous tasting tour around the historic North Market

When: 7 - 10 p.m. on Saturday, May 17

As the title of the event implies, all in attendance are encouraged to wear their favorite apron or create one in honor of the gala! Best male and female aprons will be selected and all guests wearing an apron will be entered into a drawing for a special prize. Commemorative aprons will be available on sale for $15 at the event.

Paradise Garage

Paradise Garage is a lifestyle store: one part apparel and one part bicycle and accessories shop. The focus of the bikes carried in the store is commuting and cruising. They have everything from Dutch city bikes (as seen in the current window), limited edition track bikes, simple street cruisers, and 26" BMX Cruisers.

They are carrying mens and womens clothing lines from contemporary American and European labels. Some of the lines we carry are Bench(a UK brand), Brown Label Denim(made in California), Skunkfunk(from Spain), Soundgirl(NY), and WeSC(Sweden).

I stopped in the other night while waiting for our dinner at North Star Cafe to be ready and was pleasantly surprised by how cute the store is and how friendly the owners are ... I left with 2 new adorable shirts :)

Capture the Moment: The Pulitzer Prize Photographs

The largest and most comprehensive exhibition of Pulitzer Prize winning photographs, Capture the Moment, presents powerful images that have changed lives and the way we think. The photographs include the Pulitzer winners from 1942 to 2007. There are the iconic pictures of the World Trade Center attack, the flag raising at Iwo Jima, Kent State and tender moments like Babe Ruth's last day as a Yankee. Don't miss these great photographs that have captured the defining moments of history.

Where: The Ohio Historical Society
When: April 25 - July 25 2008
Admission: Adults $8. Children (6-12) $4. Parking $4.

Matzo.

I spent way too much time yesterday on Pet Finder, a website featuring animals that have been rescued and are in need of good homes. I was shocked to see how many dogs were on this site (over 10,000!), and almost ended up in tears thinking of all these dogs without homes. Then of coarse I called Pete and asked him if we could adopt Matzo, this absolutely precious little puggle, but he talked some sense into me and we decided that until we have a backyard we cannot have 2 dogs! I hope that Matzo, and the rest of these animals, find loving families to join and that someday soon we can rescue a dog!

Let's do lunch!

I have started packing my lunch for work everyday, and find myself lugging all my tupperware in whatever shopping bag I can find at home and then throwing it away at the end of the day. So I have decided to try and be more green and purchase a lunch box that I can use everyday. Here are some I found online:

My new bike!

Yesterday (while I was laying in bed hungover from the night before) Pete surprised me with a new bike! He is an avid mountain biker, and wanted me to have a bike so we could go for rides together. We went for a long ride last night and I LOVED IT! Although I'm definitely going to need some practice before I hit any trails!

Across the Universe...

I remember seeing previews for this movie months ago and wanting to see it, but then never heard much about it. I decided to watch it last week and I absolutely LOVED IT! It's an inspiring romantic musical that will make you like The Beatles even more! And now I have a crush on Jim Sturgess :)

Congratulations....

The first 2 of the Fab 15 are engaged! Congratulations Christina + Libby!!

The best coffee around...

My friend Chris and I were talking about illy coffee yesterday over brunch at Tasi, and both agreed that it truly is the best! I stumbled across this post today and was beside myself. illy and Coke paired up, and are set to roll out three chilled espresso-based drinks - Caffe’, Cappuccino and Latte Macchiato - across Europe this year and in other parts of the world in 2009. I can't wait to try them!

A little housekeeping...

I got a comment over the weekend from an anonymous person that was nasty and very hurtful!

I keep this blog totally for fun ... it provides an escape from work, and allows me to post about things that I love.

So please, if you don't like my blog do us both a favor and don't read it!!

Snowy Weekend in Review:

BLIZZARD 2008 Hit Columbus! We got over 20 inches of snow this weekend, and were stranded from Friday night - Sunday morning. Pictures from Columbus Underground.

Friday Night: Dinner party at our house = Homemade Lasagna + salad + cherry pie + TONS of wine, then walked to Beck Tavern where we drank, played darts and almost got in a fight! (and it wasn't the men, it was me Erica + Maggie that almost got in a fight with some guys!).

Saturday:
We walked to Einstein Bros. Deli for lunch, proceeded to watch mindless tv all afternoon (shows such as Make Me a Supermodel, The Real Housewives of NYC and Men in Trees), Kevin and North came over with beer and we drank and played catch phrase, then walked to Jimmy V's to meet Erica + Conroy for some additional boozing + dinner, then we walked home and passed out around 10pm!

Sunday: Walked to Church, dug my car out of the mound of snow it was under, lunch and shopping with my mom and sister, then Pete and I went to dinner at Brio and the opening night of Tabloid at Shadowbox!

It was an absolutely delightful weekend ... I just hope it doesn't snow again soon :)

Yet another reason why I adore Audrey Hepburn...

Did you know that Audrey Hepburn had a pet fawn named Pippin? She kept the fawn at her home and became attached to it. It shopped with her, took naps beside her, and followed her around all day. These black and white photos of Audrey + Pippin were available here, but unfortunately sold out yesterday!

Maybe I should trade Lucy in for a fawn?!?
