Hope Weekend
Friday, June 6 - Sunday, June 8
This month, the Short North Arts District is dedicating Gallery Hop weekend to Rachel. You can support Rachel by participating in all the Hope Weekend events.
Tip Drive
Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8
At participating Short North businesses
Through her work at Haiku, Rachel is a family member of both the Short North Arts District and the restaurant community. When you dine at a Short North restaurant this weekend, your server will be donating his or her tip to Rachel’s recovery fund. Some restaurants are even offering to match their servers’ donations.
Artwork Silent Auction
Saturday, June 7 6pm - 10pm
The Art Exchange, 17 E. Brickel St.
Rachel studies art at The Ohio State University and is an active participant in the local arts scene. Rachel's impact on the arts community will be demonstrated through a silent auction of local artist's works. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to Rachel’s recovery fund.
Reflection Area
Saturday, June 7 6pm - 10pm
650 N. High Street (corner of Russell & High)
A storefront on North High Street will be transformed into an elegant showcase of Rachel’s life. This is a place where visitors can reflect, write letters to Rachel, read updates about her recovery progress, and make contributions to her fund.
Benefit Concert
Saturday, June 7 10pm - 11pm
Corner of North High St. & Hubbard St. (next to Haiku)
Round out your Gallery Hop evening with an outdoor concert featuring local music acts. Volunteers will be on hand to accept donations to Rachel’s fund.

Simon Doonan: Eccentric Glamour
Tuesday night while Pete and I were wondering around the Shops in Las Vegas, we strolled into Barneys and to our surprise and delight there was a book signing party for Simon Doonon's new book Eccentric Glamour!
A little bit about the book:
In his fourth book Simon Doonan offers a defense against the tidal wave of slutty dressing and porno-chic which has been engulfing us since the arrival of Paris Hilton, Anna Nicole Smith, may she rest in peace, and Tara Reid.
Simon Doonan believes that eccentric glamour - a unique personal style - is every woman's birthright. Constructing and designing a glamorously eccentric you means understanding and magnifying the core of your individuality. While the typical TV boobs 'n' botox make-overs force everywoman to look the same - see The Real Housewives of Orange County - the transformations which he strives to provoke in this book are the very opposite.
Developing a glamorously eccentric style involves revealing and magnifying everything which is unique and idiosyncratic about you.
Conformity is the only crime and dressing down is the only faux-pas.
SAY NO TO HO!....and yes to ECCENTRIC GLAMOUR!

Love at First Bite...
Tip Top Kitchen & Cocktails has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Columbus! It's friendly, has a great patio, gives a discount and $1 PBRs to everyone that rides their bike, and has the most amazing food! (You MUST try the Pot Roast Sandwich!)
Last night me Pete, Erica and Conroy rode our bikes there for dinner and we disovered yet another reason to love Tiptop = bike-generated-movie night!! They have a bike that powers a movie they project on a big screen on the patio. People take turns riding this stationary bike and everyone gets to enjoy a movie! Last night we had the pleasure of watching "Better Off Dead" while we ate.

Paradise Garage
Paradise Garage is a lifestyle store: one part apparel and one part bicycle and accessories shop. The focus of the bikes carried in the store is commuting and cruising. They have everything from Dutch city bikes (as seen in the current window), limited edition track bikes, simple street cruisers, and 26" BMX Cruisers.
I stopped in the other night while waiting for our dinner at North Star Cafe to be ready and was pleasantly surprised by how cute the store is and how friendly the owners are ... I left with 2 new adorable shirts :)
