Baby it's cold (and rainy) outside...

and I seriously need a waterproof jacket! Here are a few ideas from J.Crew and Patagonia.

I need a new bag...

I carry around A LOT of stuff. My computer, 2 cell phones, my planner, wallet, keys, gum, chap-stick, anti-bacterial gel and usually an apple in case I get hungry. Therefore as you can imagine, my bag is pretty hefty, and after almost 2 years of carrying the same on everyday I think I'm ready for a new one! Here are my first thoughts from anthropologie.

I'm thankful for...

1. My family -- who despite our madness is the most wonderful, amazing group of people I've ever known, and I feel so lucky to have you.

2. My job -- Even with the hellish hours it sometimes requires, I'm thankful that I love what I do and absolutely adore the people I work with.

3. My dog -- Because you bring joy to my life, keep my active and snuggle me at night when Pete's out of town!

4. My friends -- who have stood by me and supported me through so much... and continue to make my life way more enjoyable!

5. Last, and maybe most of all, Pete -- who is my best friend in the whole world, who I also happen to be madly in love with. I am so thankful that you are in my life.

What are you thankful for on this day?

Give Thanks Today.

I stumbled across this image while searching the web and thought it the perfect way to honor this Holiday. I love everything about Thanksgiving, but especially the people I get to spend it with. I hope you have a most wonderful Thanksgiving!

Buy Nothing Day = November 23rd

A 24 hour moratorium on consumer spending - participate by not participating. This November 23rd, environmentalists, social activists and concerned citizens in as many as 65 countries will hit the streets for a 24-hour consumer fast in celebration of the 15th annual Buy Nothing Day, a global cultural phenomenon that originated in Vancouver, Canada. Read more.

This post may seem ironic, since about 75% of what I post on this blog is material things to purchase, however I think this is a wonderful idea. Thanks to my sister, my entire family has vowed to participate this year in the Buy Nothing Day, and you should too!

The perfect party accessories...

These beautiful Stephen Dweck earrings are the perfect Holiday party accessory and are all currently on Sale at Neiman Marcus!

Oh Christmas Tree...

I was pretty dead set on getting a real Christmas Tree this year, even despite how much Pete tried to talk me out of it. I think however after finding this tree that I might be alright with a fake tree, especially if we have these adorable ornaments to decorate it! Available here.

Hello Kitty!

Despite the fact that I'm no longer 10 years old, and that it really isn't cool anymore, I'm still a huge fan of Hello Kitty! Their merchandise is always so cheerful and fun, and these two products are no exception... they might even make my Christmas list this year! Available here.

The ultimate tail-gating accessory...

..I don't have Buckeye Football fever like the rest of this town, however this Beer Belt would be absolutely PERFECT for most of my friends! (ie. Kevin, Maggie and North). Available here.

i LOVE this bag.

Why does everything I love have to cost so much!?!? Available here.

Columbus = Indie Art Capital of the World

October 29th, 2007

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The title of “Indie Art Capital of the World” was announced and awarded to the City of Columbus last Tuesday, October 23rd. This announcement marks the beginning of a new grass-roots effort in Columbus to help clarify and boost the city’s image throughout the world as a place where all types of art produced with an independent spirit are embraced. Already forging a strong foothold in the community, this title is anticipated to be adopted into the marketing and promotion organizations throughout Central Ohio by the end of the year.

I realize that this is sort of old news, but it's way too exciting not to post! Read more here.

Amazing Artist: Leah Wong.

Leah’s recent work reflects her childhood interest in Chinese paper-cuts. Her paintings reveal her memories and imaginings. She hand-colors and hand-cuts her imagined creatures and then embeds them using paint, texture, abstract forms, and gestural lines. Through her paintings, she intends to hybridize culture, conceptual space and materials, and hopes to connect viewers’ minds and imaginations.

Leah Wong is currently showing at the Sherrie Gallery in the Short North, and seeing this amazing collection is definitely worth the trip!

All aboard the Enchanted Express...

The Enchanted Express is an indoor garden railway adventure traveling through the Franklin Park Conservatory’s plant collections to small-scale architectural wonders of the world and to places that exist in our imaginations. Created by famed garden railroad designer Paul Busse, Enchanted Express will be on display from October 13, 2007 to March 30, 2008.

We went yesterday and had the most wonderful time ... this display (especially the Bonsia trees) are very cool!
